Police Officer

The Village of Claycomo Police Department is seeking a dedicated and professional individual to serve as a full-time Police Officer. This position is responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, preventing crimes, and protecting the residents and businesses within the community. Officers will be required to patrol assigned areas, respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, conduct investigations, and perform various law enforcement duties. The department features specialized units, including a Traffic Unit, Motorcycle Unit, K-9 Unit, and Detective Unit, offering officers opportunities for specialized assignments and career growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Enforce federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.

Conduct routine patrols to deter crime and ensure public safety.

Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.

Investigate criminal activity, collect evidence, and prepare detailed reports.

Conduct traffic enforcement and investigate traffic accidents.

Make arrests and testify in court proceedings as required.

Engage in community policing efforts and build relationships with local residents and businesses.

Assist in public education programs and crime prevention initiatives.

Ensure proper maintenance and care of department-issued equipment.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.

Starting salary of $54,263.00, with potential increases based on experience and qualifications.

City pays 100% of the employee’s medical insurance.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 years of age.

High school diploma or GED required.

Possess a valid Missouri driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Must be a Missouri POST-certified peace officer or currently enrolled in an academy with the ability to obtain certification upon hiring.

We will send the right applicant to the academy if not POST certified.

No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.

Must pass a thorough background check, drug screening, psychological evaluation, and physical examination.

Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including running, lifting, and exposure to various weather conditions.
