The Manchester Police Department is accepting applications for the position of NON-CERTIFIED POLICE CADET/RECRUIT.
NON-CERTIFIED APPLICANTS are untrained civilians wanting to enter the law enforcement profession. Selected individuals will be sent to the basic law enforcement training program at the St. Louis County Municipal Police Academy. After graduating from this 6-month program, the City will have the option of hiring the Recruit as a sworn Manchester Police Officer.
While attending the academy, the Recruit will be given a living allowance of $1,730.77 paid biweekly, with any partial two¬ week period prorated. Once sworn-in, the Recruit will be elevated to Step 1 Police Officer pay.
Recruits who are sent to the police academy by Manchester PD, will be contractually committed to working as a Manchester Police Officer for a minimum of 3 years. Individuals who (a) for any reason fail to satisfactorily pass the 12-month Probationary Police Officer period (b) are terminated for cause during the following 24-month period (c) resign at any time during the 36-month period as a sworn Police Officer, will result in the individual reimbursing the City of Manchester for all costs associated with their academy training.

Minimum Qualifications
• Must be 21 years of age at the time of academy graduation.
• Must be a US citizen.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Missouri Driver’s license without a record of suspension or revocation.
• No felony convictions in any State. No infamous misdemeanor convictions.
• Must be able to render credible testimony in a court of law.
• Must successfully complete a firearms qualification course as determined by the police department.
• Must successfully complete standardized physical fitness test given by the police academy and new police officer employees.
Recruits must be able to pass all the physical and academic requirements of the police academy. Once elevated to Police Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the essential duties listed for that position (see below).
