Part time Police Detective
The Part‑Time Detective for the Claycomo Police Department is responsible for conducting criminal investigations, gathering evidence, interviewing victims and witnesses, and collaborating with patrol officers and other law‑enforcement personnel. This position requires sound judgment, strong investigative skills, professionalism, and the flexibility to respond to cases as assigned. The part-time detective will also be subject to call-outs as needed.
Conduct investigations into crimes assigned by the Detective Division or Detective Sergeant, including property crimes, assaults, theft, and drug offenses.
Respond to crime scenes as required, secure and process evidence, take photographs, and maintain thorough documentation.
Interview and interrogate victims, witnesses, and suspects; collect statements and evidence.
Prepare and execute search warrants, arrest warrants, and other legal documentation.
Coordinate with other law-enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and forensic laboratories as necessary.
Maintain detailed case files, prepare investigative reports, and track evidence using department systems.
Testify in court as required, presenting clear, factual, and organized case information.
Serve as a liaison with community stakeholders, including victims, families, and external agencies.
Assist patrol officers with follow-up investigations as needed.
Participate in departmental training and maintain all required certifications.
Maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings or on-call hours, based on investigative needs.

$20-22 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of detective experience with a law-enforcement agency.
Must be Missouri POST-certified and current.
Must have attended a basic investigations school.
Demonstrated experience in investigative work or patrol experience with investigative responsibilities.
Knowledge of criminal law, search-and-seizure procedures, and evidence collection.
Strong communication skills — oral and written — to interview, document, and testify.
Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and manage a caseload.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to pass a thorough background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation.
Flexibility to work irregular hours, respond to call-outs, and attend court when required.
