Full Time Police Officer

The Village of Claycomo, Missouri is seeking a dedicated and community-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Police Officer. This position offers an excellent opportunity to serve a supportive community while working within a professional, proactive, and team-focused department. Our officers work 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off, providing a balanced schedule that supports both career performance and quality of life.

The starting salary for this position is $54,263.00, with a scheduled increase to $56,729.50 in April 2026. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patrol assigned areas of the Village to safeguard residents, businesses, and property.

Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, including crimes in progress, accidents, disturbances, and requests for assistance.

Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations of criminal offenses, traffic accidents, and suspicious activities.

Enforce federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.

Conduct traffic enforcement, issue citations, and direct traffic as necessary.

Prepare accurate written reports, maintain records, and testify in court when required.

Make arrests using appropriate tactics and procedures; safely transport individuals in custody.

Engage in community policing efforts, building positive relationships with residents, businesses, and community groups.

Participate in ongoing training in defensive tactics, firearms, emergency response, and legal updates.

Maintain issued equipment, uniforms, vehicles, and departmental resources in proper working condition.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or supervisory staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of modern police principles, practices, and procedures.

Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under stressful or emergency conditions.

Skill in the safe operation of police vehicles, firearms, and related equipment.

Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with diverse populations.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and follow ethical standards.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary: $54,263.00 annually

Minimum Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age.

High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in criminal justice or related field preferred.

Missouri POST certification (or the ability to obtain prior to hire).

Valid Missouri driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.

Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, medical exam, and drug screening.

Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
